A big factor in growing your business should include email marketing. It is still one of the best ways of growing your audience. According to a HubSpot article, email generates $42 for every $1 spent, which is an astounding 4,200% ROI, making it one of the most effective options available. Below are some ways to grow your email list.

Collect more email addresses through existing relationships
  1. Ask Friends and Family - If they can’t necessarily use the information you have to offer, they probably know someone who does. In this case, explain the benefits and make sure they know you will not flood their inboxes with unwanted emails.

  2. Ask Customers and Prospects - If you have a physical location you can ask your customers if they would like to sign up for your newsletter or have a QR code that they can scan with their phone.

  3. Email Signature Link - This is a great way to add some email contacts without a lot of effort on your part. A simple call-to-action (CTA) link to a landing page at the bottom of your email signature will do the trick.

  4. Send a Postcard - Most people are online but not everyone is. Provide a website for them to go to and opt-in to your newsletter and give them a free gift while you are at it.

Collect more email addresses through your website
  1. Lead Magnet - This is a freebie! Who doesn’t like freebies? This could be a PDF, a contest entry, or a variety of things. You can learn more about lead magnets from our previous SD Insight.

  2. Landing Page - This is a specific page designated for one specific task. In this case, it would be to collect someone’s email address. Usually, a lead magnet would direct someone to a landing page but it is not always necessary.

  3. Accessible Sign Up Form - It is one thing to have a sign up form on your website but if no one uses it, maybe it is time to re-evaluate the location of the form. Having a form on every/most pages of your website is crucial. So either in the footer, header or as a floating button is a great way for the viewer to access it at any time.

  4. Contest - This is a great way to add subscribers quickly. You will want to make sure the prize is valuable and will entice people to provide you with their email address. People will provide their email if there is a deadline. Don’t forget to promote the contest on your website, social media, and even through print advertising.

Collect more email addresses through social media
  1. Followers - Your followers already like what you are doing and are interested in what you have to offer, so why not ask them to sign up for your newsletter. That way they will receive your newsletter without having to find your latest post on social media.

  2. Facebook Page Sign Up Form - Integrate your email software right into Facebook or manually add a “Sign Up” button to your Facebook Business Page that takes the viewer to a page on your website to sign up for your newsletter.

  3. Advertising - This can be a great way to reach people you otherwise wouldn’t. It is also a great way to empty out your bank account. So be careful and if you are not sure what you are doing, speak with a specialist.

  4. Blog Posts - Contributing to other websites as a guest writer is a great way to reach an audience you otherwise might not have. You will provide value to a new group of people and maybe even gain a few new subscribers yourself.
